Cetera’s Kerry Shaye Craig Discharged Over Customer Complaints

Kerry Shaye Craig (CRD: 4750237) is a former general securities representative of Cetera Investment Services LLC located in Tyler, Texas. He was employed with the FINRA member brokerage firm until December 6, 2017, at which time he was discharged for becoming subject of several customer complaints.

Craig’s Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”) BrokerCheck profile indicates that he is the subject of at least two customer-initiated, investment-related disputes (comprised of complaints or arbitrations) containing allegations of sales practice violations including unsuitable investments, unsuitable recommendations, and misrepresentation. The customer’s complaints relate to the time that Craig worked for PrimeVest Financial Services (2004 and 2005) and Cetera Investment Services (2007 to 2017):

September 21, 2017 Complaint: A customer of Cetera Investment Services filed a written complaint alleging that Craig sold the customer investments that were not suitable for her. The customer was apparently provided poor advice concerning real estate security products. By following Craig’s advice, the customer’s reportedly suffered tax consequences and a surrender penalty. The complaint was resolved for $80,000.00 on February 13, 2018.

January 12, 2011 Complaint: A PrimeVest Financial Services customer alleged that unit investment trust investments were misrepresented. The complaint was settled for $8,730.46 in damages on January 31, 2011.
